Escondido homes offer lots to do outdoors.Find a well-established and growing city when you search Escondido homes. The city is 11 miles from the beach and 30 miles north of downtown San Diego. It’s easy to get around by car, since I-15 and SR-78 intersect in the city. It’s part of the Innovate 78 group of cities and works to attract new businesses to the city. The main industries are precision manufacturing, healthcare and professional services, and specialty food and drink production. Palomar Medical Center is a large local employer. Stone Brewing Co. is located in the city. It’s the original craft brewery in the San Diego area. Retail is another big economic sector, and Westfield North County indoor mall is located in the southern half of the city.

Escondido Real Estate Owners Love Their Downtown

In addition to great jobs, Escondido real estate is attractive for many other reasons. The public schools are very strong, and there are several good charter schools. Parents can also choose from a number of respected private schools.

The city has 15 parks, including two large open spaces--around Dixon Lake and Lake Wohlford, and Daley Ranch. Go camping, hiking, biking, horseback riding, and picnicking. There are also city-sponsored sports leagues, enrichment classes, and child care. For those who love animals, the San Diego Zoo Safari Park is a wonderful place for people from Escondido homes to visit and see animals from all over the world in large habitats.

Downtown Escondido is a thriving place, with great restaurants and pubs, as well as art galleries and museums. The Second Saturday Art Walk is a great way for residents to get to know their local art scene, and several galleries participate.

The community comes together for events throughout the year. There are fishing derbies at Dixon Lake, and a vintage car rally from April through September. There’s a chocolate festival in February and a Renaissance Faire in the spring and fall.
